This 80-year-old piece of '39 BUICK sheet metal is a good one.kind of a time capsule. It is totally straight, with no rust, no dents, and lots of original black paint still intact. All of the mounting tabs are in place, and none of them are “thin”. About 15 or 20 years ago, there was a place that advertised sheetmetal repair panels for Buicks in Hemmings. For example they made the back body panel which is the part of the body that is below the rear bumper on a 1940 Buick. Anyone know a place that makes these panels? I know they exist. Today. If you MIG it, careful with heat back there or the metal warpage will mess with the fit of the trunk lid. I've also seen guys who could form that contour by hammering sheetmetal around a pipe. I just finished a bunch of sheet metal work like this. It's not as easy as it looks on TV, but with patience, it can turn out really well.
